Women Are Not Allowed to Get Angry Even If Sexually Assaulted.— My 12 Chikan Stories #3
We have seen chikan is not just “adult content”. But it’s also true getting older, getting more chikans.
I have shared my chikan experiences from my childhood that almost all Japanese women would relate to.

As girls expand their range, chikans also expand their variation.
5. Kinshicho
One day, in my mid-20s, I was walking down the street in the Kinshicho district of eastern Tokyo. I was on my mobile, talking with a client. I was wearing a black suit ( I don't remember why.)
All of sudden, someone grabbed my boobs as we were passing each other.
I swung around.
It was in the middle of the day and there were so many people on the street. I was not 100% sure, but one of them looked suspicious.
I can’t say why but… I just felt it had to be him.
I marched right up to him and shrieked, “Fuzakenjanēzotemē! Ima watashi no karada o sawattadaro!!!?” ( “You motherfuckin’ asshole! You just groped me, didn’t you!!!???)
He reacted angrily, which made me even more convinced that it was him…like, 98% convinced.
He was a short, fat, old guy.
I really, really wanted to knock him down to the ground, but because I was not 100% sure, it prevented me from taking physical action.
In my heart, I expected someone to intervene, to say, “Yes, I saw him touching you!” or, “What happened?”.
But the saddest thing was the people.
A crowd of people were just staring at me with this, “OMG, she’s swearing in public!”, look on their faces.
Or glaring disapprovingly at me with this, “She’s so rude! It’s not WOMANLY!” look in their eyes.
Yes, the same eyes that we saw in the Chinese lady’s video that I introduced at the beginning of My Chikan Stories #1.
As soon as a traffic light turned green, the crowd dispersed and people went on their way.
The guy also walked away, as if nothing had happened.
For a few minutes, I just stood there in a state of shock.
Then, I remembered my client was still on the phone.
Although he was a client, we were also casual friends.
I said sorry and explained what had just happened.
He wasn’t angry because I left him hanging on the phone, so I expected him to understand.
But instead what he said was, “ You are SCARY. You’d better behave more womanly~~.”
One time, when Goku from Dragon Ball Z got mad and turned into a violent Super Saiyan and knocked down Freeza after seeing his friend’s death, he was treated like a hero.
And yet when a girl gets pissed off because her human rights were assaulted, and that’s “scary”?
I turned Super Saiyan Yakuza, but didn’t know with whom I was angrier, the chikan or my client.
In Japanese sexual assault-style porn, the female victims always protest in a dainty, polite, “womanly” way, “Yamete kudasai” (Please, kindly stop it), which is the way Japanese men like it.
Internationally, we Japanese women have a reputation of being calm, gentle, polite, and smiling all the time. In other words, we are known as “the best kind of wife”.
Actually, since our childhood, we are strictly taught to always be considerate, care about other people, hold our anger, and use polite language.
After more than 30 years, I finally realized it was all to comfort men ALL THE TIME.
We were brainwashed to please men, not to fulfill ourselves.
6. Horny ghost
It might be the scariest sexual assault I ever had.
Japanese horror is terrifying, not only in the movies but in real life too.
In my early 20s, while living in an old apartment in self-imposed seclusion, suffering from hikikomori, I was groped by a ghost.
I was sleeping on my futon on top of a tatami mat. I had the feeling that some guy had entered my apartment. I imagined it was a middle-aged thin man.
Rough footsteps approached my bedroom. (It’s weird because ghosts in Japan don’t have feet…)
I became terrified and wanted to escape, but my body was paralyzed.
I couldn’t move or lift a finger.
The intruder leaned onto me.
… Yes, even ghosts are molesters!
It would be called “old fart syndrome”.
The truth is stranger than horror.
Now we all scream, “Ghosts are real!!”
We don’t know when they appear and where they come from.
We always need to bring a PKE Meter with us.
Thank you my unicorns for reading!
In My Chikan Stories #4, I will share more stories from my adulthood.
I will continue posting stories on mental health, women’s issues, and diversity with a Japanese comedic voice.
