2 Major Reasons Why Chikan Victims Keep Silent−My Chikan Stories #4
While the number of reported chikan sexual assault cases is estimated to be far less than the actual number, ever more content to fantasize about sexual assault floods onto the internet.
So far, I have shared six of my chikan experiences that almost all Japanese women would relate to.

Women Are Not Allowed to Get Angry Even If Sexually Assaulted. — My 12 Chikan Stories #3
Since childhood I’ve experienced many types of sexual assaults, and eventually I became a master at recognizing chikans. And of course, a Japanese chikan master like myself would never miss a basic style assault.
7. Basic style chikan
I was on a crowded rush-hour train on my way back home. I was living in my parent’s house in the suburbs. Outside of metropolitan Tokyo, the distance between stops was 10–15 minutes.
I felt something faintly strange on my butt. At first, I was not sure if someone was touching me, or someone’s purse or something was brushing up against me.
But it wasn’t long before I realized it was definitely someone’s hand exploring my ass.
I silently endured this violation until the train came to a stop at the next station. I grabbed the guy’s wrist, twisted it, and shouted, “This man is a chikan!!”
I was totally pissed off and about to transform into a super saiyan yakuza like the Kinshicho case when I was walking and talking on my cell phone and some guy grabbed my boobs. But I had learned a lesson.
To get some assistance from other passengers, I used an inner voice changer to lower the volume and transform my yakuza voice into a dainty “womanly” voice.
Then a guy helped me to hand the chikan over to the station security staff.
He even stayed on as a witness.
We were escorted to a small waiting room in the staff area.
The chikan was taken to another room.
However, we had to wait for hours without permission to leave until the police arrived. No food, no drink.
The good samaritan and I had been on our separate ways home after a long day’s work.
I felt really sorry for him, so I told him to go home.
I asked for his contact info so I could send him a small token of my appreciation, but he kindly declined and left.
A few more hours went by, and finally, a young athletic officer came into the room.
He asked me to role-play with him and demonstrate in detail exactly what happened.
For example, how and where the chikan had touched me, how I felt, and how long it continued.
I am a comedian and proud of telling the truth.
But many female victims understandably feel the process of telling the details to male officers is humiliating.
Afterward, he left the room and went to interrogate the chikan.
After another hour went by, he came back.
He revealed that the chikan was a 20-year-old guy with a disability certificate. Also, he had a criminal record, and his parents were coming to pick him up.
If I wanted to have the chikan arrested, the officer said I needed to file a formal complaint with the police at a nearby satellite office. But the office was closed until the police returned from patrol, which would be a few more hours.
It had been a day that I was able to return home earlier than usual, but now it was already past 10 pm.
The young officer seemed like he was suggesting I let it go because it would take a lot of time. So, I gave up on a complaint and left for home.
The young officer was a nice guy, but I couldn’t bear it.
While he and I were role-playing the molesting moment, he was so into it that his zipper opened.
Not on purpose… I hope.
8. Experience of being the 3rd person
A young woman in a business suit was walking about 20–30 meters ahead of me on a shinkansen (bullet train) platform.
Further along the platform, an “ordinary” middle-aged businessman was walking in our direction.
Suddenly, he grabbed the young woman’s butt as they passed by each other.
I was totally shocked and FURIOUS.
I wondered if I should wrestle him to the ground.
But the woman just stopped for a moment and then walked away.
It was evening and she might've been on a business trip.
I assumed she could’ve gotten in trouble at work if she filed a complaint.
So I held my urge and just glared at him.
How search results for “chikan experiences” have more than one meaning
Once I googled “Chikan, experience” in Japanese. All of the results on the first few pages were adults sites presenting “Chikan experience” stories as erotica.
Of course, the stories were written for men.
Just to be sure, I googled the same thing in English with search terms such as “molested experience” and “groped experience”.
The results were all articles critical of chikan, molesters, and gropers.
From my experience, I know many Japanese men LOVE to listen to their female friends tell chikan stories.
Not to listen as a sympathetic friend, but to listen to women tell their harrowing stories as a form of pornographic gratification:” Oh…It was harsh (pretending to understand)… and what happened next…? What was it like..?”
My writings may also be targeted by some dude who gets off on chikan-play in his mind while reading my stories, not even pretending to feel sympathy for me. If you’ve ENJOYED my stories for sexual gratification, let me say something to you, “Fu*k you, a**hole!”
Even though I understand these sad facts, I will keep raising my voice to change the way society perceives sexual assault.
And now I will no longer use my “damsel in distress” dainty “ladylike” voice changer to ask for help in a dangerous situation.
I’ll never again hold back my super saiyan yakuza voice of thunder ever again.
I do not want you to imagine how I was assaulted. All I want you to do is imagine what if it were your daughter, wife, sister, or girlfriend being assaulted.
And please, as a member of a civilized society, be prepared to intervene and join the fight to stop sexual assaults.
If you don’t have any significant female others, use these stories to practice imagining pain, fear humiliation, and horror, not porn.
I will continue posting stories on mental health, women’s issues, and diversity with a Japanese comedic voice.
